On Thursday, Assembly Speaker K Radhakrishnan received a letter from JD(S) president Deve Gowda saying that the party would continue to be an ally of the LDF. However, the leader of the JD(S) legislature party K P Mohanan also submitted a letter requesting that the party MLAs be allowed to sit as a separate bloc.

The Veerendrakumar-led faction has three MLAs including his son M V Sreyamskumar while the rival faction now backed by Gowda has two.

What led to Krishnankutty’s suspension was his statement justifying the Veerendrakumar-led faction’s stand to dissociate from the LDF in the wake of H D Kumaraswamy’s offer of support to the Congress after the elections.

Danish Ali said that Krishnankutty had questioned the authority of the national leadership.
However, Veerendrakumar said in Kozhikode that the suspension will not be accepted.
