Mangalorean becomes dentist to Prez

A B Shetty Memorial Institute of Dental Sciences Senior professor and Head of the Department of Conservative Dentistry and Endodontics Mithra Nidarsh Hegde has become a pride for Mangaloreans as she is the first Dental surgeon from Karnataka state to be appointed as personal dentist to the President.

According to a press release, she got the call from Rashtrapati Bhavan in June about it. “All credit goes to my patients and word-of-mouth praise,” she said. Dr Mithra, along with her husband Dr Nidarsh, also a dentist and the Home Guards Commandant, met the President at the high tea on Independence Day.

She went to Rashtrapati Bhavan on August 17 and treated her. Dr Hegde is into academics teaching undergraduate students , Bachelor of Dental Surgery and Postgraduate students, Master of Dental Surgery(MDS) for the last 19 years.
