Eight women electrocuted in Haryana

Four others were injured in the incident.

According to reports, the accident occurred when the women were returning home on a tractor trolley loaded with fodder near Khera village adjoining the Nuh township. As the trolley passed underneath a live power line wire, the loose wire fell on the women and eight of them were electrocuted.

Four others, including a boy, were injured and were admitted to hospital.

A case of culpable homicide not amounting to murder has been registered against several officials of the electricity department responsible for maintaining the power line, police said.
Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has expressed shock and grief over the tragic death of the eight women and has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 3 lakh each to the next of kin of the deceased.
