Addressing newspersons here on Tuesday, he said ‘Akrama-Sakrama’ is a pro-people project. The Congress Party is mainly responsible for the delay in giving approval for the Bill. It would be inevitable for the State government to launch a legal battle in this effect.

However, Ashok, who is also the president of the sub-committee of the project, refused to divulge more information regarding the proposed legal battle.

There is no ‘stay order’ from the High Court for the Akrama-Sakrama bill and the Advocate General himself has clarified this to the governor. There is no reason why the governor is not ready to approve that bill, he added.

He also clarified that he would not meet the Governor in this regard. There is no alternative except launching legal battle and seek people’s support, if the project is nipped in the bud.

More than 15 lakh families would be benefited by the project. Majority of the buildings have been constructed during the tenure of Congress government. The Congress that violated the norms and approved constructions itself is opposing the bill now. The Governor is being misguided, he said.

When questioned whether the Governor is responding to the Congress leaders advise, he claimed innocence.

The government’s objective is to provide an opportunity for those to legalise constructions on the revenue land. A protest would be launched if a proper decision is not taken on the issue, he warned.
