The team will now compete at the ‘World Robot Olympiad 2010’ to be held at Manila, Philippines in November 2010, reports DHNS from Bangalore.

Aimed at promoting interest in technology and spirit of innovation among students, Techtronics Education and Lego had organised the fifth edition of the Indian Robot Olympiad (IRO) 2010 in Bangalore, which saw participation of 177 participants from 100 schools across India.

The winning team from Canadian International School Bangalore (CIS) was an ‘all girls team’ comprising Takita Momoko, Jung Eun Lim and Ramita Kondepudi all from 9th Grade.
The contest was held in the primary school, junior high and senior high categories.

Radical change

Shweta Sastri, Executive Director, CIS said “Robotics programs in schools give students an opportunity to use technology that would in turn bring about radical changes in many disciplines.”

Robotics allows young minds to develop invaluable skills such as problem-solving, logical reasoning, critical thinking and creativity. The school is gearing up for their team’s participation at the World Robot Olympiad 2010, she added.
