Kannada promoted in a novel way

 Activists and office bearers of Zilla Kannada Sahitya Parishat and Kannada Chaluvali Kendra Samithi took out a novel campaign to promote the habit of reading Kannada newspapers.
The campaign called, “Kannada pathrikegalannu kondu odi” (buy Kannada papers and read) was marked with enthusiasm and love for the local dialect and newspapers. The activists bought Kannada newspapers and distributed them free of cost to traders and the passers-by on Devaraja Urs and Sayyaji Rao road.

The campaigners urged the traders, hoteliers and common man to buy Kannada newspapers. Earlier, senior journalist Rajashekar Koti launched the campaign releasing the Kannada newspapers for distribution among the people. In his address, he said about 30 lakh Malayalam newspapers were sold in Kerala, and Maharashtra saw 90 lakh Marathi newspapers being sold. While, the number of Kannada newspapers sold was only 25 lakh, he said. He urged non-Kannadigas living in State to love  the local dialect and learn it too. Mayor Sandesh Swamy, Kannada Chaluvali Kendra Samithi president Mooguru Nanjundaswamy, Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Maddikere Gopal were present.
