District administration, police heave sigh of relief

 Kadur constituency had worn a busy look after the polls were announced as there were leaders from various parties coming down for campaigning almost every other day. From former prime minister to central ministers, whose who leaders across the political spectrum took time to do their best for their party.

With all this hustle bustle, the district administration had to juggle its way through lot of responsibility. Apart from making measures to conduct free and fair elections, district administration had to ensure safety of the leaders and see to it that no untoward incident occurred during their stay in the constituency.

Former prime minister H D Deve Gowda came to Kadur and campaigned extensively. Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa too visited Kadur twice and campaigned. State Presidents of all the three parties, Ministers and former ministers, Opposition Leader Siddaramaiah, Central Minister Mallikarjuna Kharge and others came down to Kadur, which put the district administration at acid test.

When the district administration asked all the leaders to leave the constituency, JD(S) members staged a protest stating that MLA C T Ravi and former minister Sommanna have not left the constituency yet. This posed challenged for district administration as the situation was all set to turn violent.

However, some minor incidents did take place at places like Lakshmipura, Lakkenahalli, Kedigere and other villages which turned violent and police had to resort to lathi charge to controll the situation.

If the counting to be held on Thursday goes on well, then district administration can rejoice for conducting the polls successfully.
