Bangalore International Centre has arranged the screening of a Mexican film Anonimo Mortal on September 17, 6.30 pm.

Interesting talk
Bangalore International Centre will hold a talk on Microfinance in India — Issues and Prospects by Anal Jain on September 24, 6 pm.

Lecture
A lecture on the Evolution of Consciousness for a Green Planet by Deepti Diwakar will be held on September 18, 5.30 pm at British Library.

Handicraft expo
The Crafts Council Of Karnataka will be holding the release of the book ‘Metal Crafts Of Karnataka’ and the inauguration of Vastrabharana 2010 on October 1, 10 am at Chitrakala Parishat.

Vastrabharana will showcase handicraft and handloom products from across the country. The products will include textiles and jewellery. The exhibition will be on till October 6 and the timing is 10.30 am to 7.30 pm.

DANCE

‘Nritya Chilume 7’
Ananya is organising Nritya Chilume 7, a platform for budding talents. There will be Bharatanatyam recitals by Shibani Ashok, Aishwarya, A Revankar, Shivani Shivakumar and Kathak by Sohini Karanth on September 24, from 6 pm. The venue is Seva Sadan, Malleswaram.

‘Samprati’
Padmini Ravi will present Samprati — a solo performance with a different approach to popularise the traditional repertoire. Samprati implies something that is contemporary and applicable to all. The performance will be held on September 16, 7 pm at Seva Sadan, Malleswaram.




DRAMA

‘Priyamulla Appa’
Mother Creation will present Priyamulla Appa on September 19, 7 pm at Thirumala Vidya Niketan Hall (behind Chowdaiah Hall).

‘Safar’
The Header and Footer Club (HAFC) of IISc will perform an English comedy called Safar at K H Kalasoudha on September 25 and 26, 6 pm. Safar is a satirical take on the apathy against initiatives.





Hindi play
Gillo, a theatre group will stage a Hindi play, Suar Chala Space Ko, for children at Ranga Shankara on September 25, 3.30 pm and 7.30 pm and on September 26, 3 pm and 6 pm at MES K K Public School, Vidyaranyapura. For details, call 9886924362.

‘Song of India’
Veda Art Gallery is hosting Song of India, a collection of Indian contemporary art at No 1, Kumara Park, next to BDA. The exhibition will be from 11 am to 6 pm till October 8.

Ganesha series
Magnitude Gallery is presenting The Zodiac Ganesha Series at No 140/13, 27th cross, III Block, Jayanagar all this month, from 10 am to 8 pm.

Many impressions
The International Music and Arts Society is hosting an exhibition and sale of paintings and drawings by Puran Singh Jhala of the royal family of Saurashtra (Gujarat) till September 19 at the Alliance Francaise from 11 am to 7 pm.

‘Re-vision’
Gallery Sumukha presents Re-vision, an exhibition of paintings by Birendra Pani till September 17, 10.30 am to 6 pm, at 24/10 BTS Depot Road, Wilson Garden.

‘Spiritual Essence...’
Hobitute Art Foundation is presenting a painting exhibition called Spiritual Essence of Soul — Dimensions of Ganesha depicting the quintessence of Bhagavad Gita by artist Maniilal Sabrimala at Gallery 2 and 3, Chitrakala Parishat. The exhibition remains open till September 20 from 11 am to 7 pm.

Modern touch
Sakshi Gallery completes 25 years and as a part of their anniversary celebrations, they are holding an art exhibition at the Lalit Ashok Hotel on September 17, 18 and 19. A collection of modern and contemporary works will be displayed at this show.

Solo works
A Luminous Confluence, a solo exhibition by Amit Bhar, will be held at Level C, the Leela Galleria till September 19.

SCREENING

Bouquet of films
Chitra Samooha will screen award-winning Kannada films, in association with Suchitra Film Society, every Saturday and Sunday, 6.30 pm at Suchitra Film Society, B V Karanth Road, Banashankari 2nd stage.

As a part of the festival, Preethi, Prema, Pranaya will be screened on September 18 and 19, Haaru Hakkiyaneri on September 25 and 26 and Naanu Ghaandhi on October 2 and 3.

The other films that will be screened are Duniya (October 9 and 10), Koti Chennaiah (October 16 and 17), Cyanide (October 23 and 24), Thaayi (October 30 and 31), Naayi Neralu (November 6 and 7), Tuttoori (November 13 and 14), Amruta Dhaare (November 20 and 21) and Mukhaputa (November 27 and 28).

MUSIC

Classical notes
The Bangalore Kidney Foundation will hold the annual Hindustani classical music festival — 7th Dhwani BKF Pt Mallikarjun Mansur Hindustani Music Festival on September 25 and 26 at the JSS Auditorium, 8th Block, Jayanagar.

The two festivals will showcase  seasoned classical vocalists and a couple of young and promising musicians. On the first day, two young musicians from Kolkata will perform a unique jugalbandi of sitar and vocals.

From 6 pm to 7.45 pm, Samanwaya Sarkar will play the sitar and Debabpriya Adhikary will present a vocal recital. This will be followed by a vocal concert by Pt Raghunandan Panishkar from 8 pm to 10 pm. On September 26, the festival begins with a vocal concert by Manjusha Patil. Anant Terdal will present another vocal recital from 12 noon to 2 pm.

The festival concludes with Shounak Abhisheki’s vocal recital from 6 pm to 8 pm and Jayashree Patnekar’s vocal performance from 8.15 pm to 10 pm. For details, call 9845424053.

Vocal strains
Karnataka Sangeetha Nritya Academy and Ananya will present a vocal recital by G Ravikiran and party on September 25, 6 pm.

Nada Vijnana Sampada, written by K Varadarangan, will be released on the occasion. The venue is Ananya Sabhangana, Malleswaram.

‘Allied Ragas’
Allied Ragas-5, a thematic music programme series on ragas Shahana, Malavi
and Dvijavanti, will be presented by D Balakrishna on September 26, 10 am at Ananya Sabhangana, Malleswaram. He will be accompanied by A Renukaprasad on mridangam.

‘Emergence’
B Flat will present Emergence on September 18, 8.30 pm. Emergence is one of India’s leading Indo-pop fusion bands. The band members are Krishna McKenzie, lead singer and guitarist; Suresh Bascara, a French drummer; Mishko M’Ba, a French bassist and Annada (Butto) Patnaik, one of India’s leading flautists.

Veena recital
Geetha R Bhat will present a veena recital on September 18, 6.30 pm at the Prasanna Anjaneyasway Temple, Mahalakshmi Layout. She will be accompanied by Vidwan S V Balakrishna on mridangam.

Soulful notes
As part of the Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamiji Platinum Jubilee Charitable Trust celebrating the 76th year of Jagadguru Sri Sri Jayendra Saraswathi Swamiji, a classical vocal recital by M T Selvanarayan has been organised on September 20 at Sri Kanchi Sankara Mutt, Sri Mahaswarnigal Marga, 5th Main, 11th Cross, Malleswaram from 6.30 pm to 8.30 pm.

Concert series
A series of music concerts will be held as part of the Vidyasagara Prof MPL Sastry Birth Centenary Celebration till September 19 at the Conference Hall, M E S  College, Vidyasagara Prof M P L Sastry Road, 15th Cross, Malleswaram from 6.30 pm. 

Celebration time
Vidyaranya Yuvaka Sangha is organising the 48th Bengaluru Ganesh Utsava at the APS College Grounds, Basavanagudi till September 22.  The Utsava is organised every year by Sri Vidyaranya Yuvaka Sangha, a social organisation.

Witness twelve days of pomp, pageantry, music and dance by stalwarts like Pandit Jasraj, Hema Malini, Ustad Amjad Ali Khan, Master Hiranhiah, Shreya Ghoshal, Suma Sudhindra, Vijay Prakash and Dayanand.

For a cause
The CSI Hospital will present a charity concert featuring singer Rahael Mathew.  The concert is in aid of ‘Hospital care for poor patients at the CSI Hospital’.

This performance will take place on September 18, 6.30 pm at the Bishop Cotton Boys’ School.

Rahael will be accompanied by a band comprising Tony Das, Aruna Zachariah, Leslie Charles, Jason Zachariah and Kishan Balaji.

‘Indian Accent’
World Fusion Band MoonArra will perform new tracks from its forthcoming album Indian Accent and some rocking covers at Take 5, 100 ft Road Indiranagar, above Cafe Coffee day on September 19, 8 pm.

Violin performance
Bangalore International Centre is organising a violin performance by Charumathi Raghuraman on October 1, 6.30 pm. For details, call 9886599675.

‘Retronome’
Retronome will perform live at Hard Rock Café, St Mark’s Road on September 16, 8.30 pm onwards.
