Schoolboy murdered in city

The victim, Manoj Kumar (16), a class 10 student of Women's Peace League School died on the spot.

He was a resident of RK Mutt Layout and a native of Mandya district. The incident took place around 4.45 pm near Udaya Bhanu Kala Sangha playground junction, said the police.

Eye witnesses told the police that Manoj, along with three other friends, were walking along the ground when two youths on a bike picked up a fight with him.

They rained blows until he fell unconscious. When passersby ran to his rescue, the duo deserted the bike and fled from the scene. The bike is now in police custody.

Ramachandra, Manoj's uncle blamed the police for not cooperating with the family.
 "They called us and informed that our boy met with an accident. But here the story is different. Now they shout at us and say our boy was in love with a girl. They start investigating the case with a pre-determined mind," he said.

Contractor’s body found

A civil work contractor's body was found near Sulikunte Lake, Bangalore South-East locality on Wednesday morning.

The victim, Siddique Ibrahim (43) was a native of West Bengal. Family sources said Siddique was married with two children. Both his brothers are also working in the city.

Engineer killed in accident

An engineer, riding a bike lost balance and rammed into an electric pole near Kadugodi police station and died on the spot on Tuesday night.

The Whitefield traffic police have identified the deceased as Praveen Tiwari (24), a resident of Prashanti apartments, Kadugodi.

The accident occurred around 11.30 pm, when he was heading home after attending a party at his friend's place in Domlur.

Praveen was staying with his sister in the city. Both were engineers and Praveen was searching for a job while his sister is working as a software engineer.

Bikers go berserk

A gang of eight members riding bikes created flutter in Govindarajnagar and its surroundings areas, damaging a dozen shops and commercial establishments, on Wednesday night.

For nearly 15 minutes, the gang on four motorcycles and armed with lethal weapons went berserk.

According to the police, the gang started damaging shops and four-wheelers at around 8.30 pm. Later, the gang rode to Mudalapalya, Thimmenahalli and Pategarapalya and continued with its attack.

A JD(S) party office in Mudalapalya was also the target of attack. More than three cars, bakeries and other shops were damaged in the incident. A mechanic was also injured in the attack.

The police suspect handiwork of Jaya Prakash alias JP, who was involved in a murder case, in the incident. The gang was found to be in an inebriated state during the attack.
