A newborn baby was inhumanly thrown into a well but later rescued and cared for by the people of the village.

A newborn female child was thrown into an unused well on Tuesday. On Wednesday morning, the cries of the infant caught the attention of people who were near the well. A peek into the well confirmed the presence of a baby.

Immediately, Mariyappa, a resident of Devamallur village climbed into the well and brought out the infant.

The people were surprised to find the baby, but equally amazed to find it unharmed in a well that houses, mosquitoes, flies and even a cobra.

Devamallur residents Muniyamma, Chaya Ramesh and others fed the baby milk. Later, with the assistance of other people, they brought the infant to the Government Hospital in Town for treatment.

Santhosh Kumar and his wife Nagaratna, from Devamallur village decided to adopt the child and came to the Hospital to look after the child.

However, the Women and Child Welfare Department deputy director Sehra Banu and CDPO Venkatesh Reddy came to the Hospital and took charge of the child.
