2000 specially trained security personnel deployed for CWG

Last Updated 21 September 2010, 14:14 IST

The contingent comprising of 300 commandos, four anti-sabotage check teams and two bomb disposal squads have undergone "intense induction" training in weapon handling, anti-terrorist activities, crowd management, public dealing and behavioural skills.

The troops have been provided with a distinct and attractive uniform -- a 'disprupted Khaki combat' pattern with the force's badge on the left arm of the wearer. CRPF chief Vikram Srivastava flagged off the contingent and asked his personnel to render their "duties in line with the best traditions of the paramilitary force."

Over one lakh security personnel including the Delhi Police would be seen in action during the Games scheduled between October 3-14. Besides the local police and the paramilitary force, Indian Air Force would also be deployed into service. Army personnel including those who specialise in Chemical Biological, Radiology and Nuclear experts would be kept on standby.
