The protest was supported by the members of Jayakarnataka organisation and Vishweshwariah Road Welfare Association.

The rally started from Vidyaganapathy temple up to deputy commissioner’s office via City Municipal Council office and submitted memorandum.

The enthusiasm which prevailed during the ‘Operation footpath’ has declined.
The then City Municipal Incharge President M J Chikkanna and Commissioner Ramaswamy had personally supervised the clearance drive. The amount of interest they showed in clearing footpath was not being shown now to lay footpath.

The road is filled with dust and debris. The drain is chocked resulting in blocking free flow of water thus emanating tepid smell.
CMC member Shivaprakash Babu, Bakery Nagaraju, Srinivas Prasad and others were present on the occasion.

Surprise
Former CMC vice-president M J Chikkanna who had personally supervised ‘Operation Footpath’ in city, surprised everyone by participating in the protest staged by traders of Vishweshwaraiah Road.

He accompanied the traders till they presented memorandum to CMC president M P Arun Kumar and commissioner Ramaswamy. He also took the both to task for delaying in taking up footpath work.

After Arun Kumar promised to start the work soon, the agitators proceeded towards the Deputy Commissioner’s office. The protesters raised pro-Chikkanna slogans.
He was present till they submitted memoranda to tahsildar and deputy commissioner.
