Make GPS mandatory for sand trucks: Action Committee

Speaking to press persons here on Thursday, he elucidated the stand of the Joint Action Committee regarding GPS issue and informed that the Committee has already signed a two year agreement with I-Search company to purchase GPS for Rs 8,500.

“Joint Action Committee requests the district administration to make it mandatory for all the sand transportation lorry owners to purchase GPS from a single company as it would avoid any kind of confusions,” he said and added that the Deputy Commissioner must bring out a notification announcing the number of lorries that have already installed GPS and should give a strict message to those who violate the rules.Meanwhile, he informed that the committee strongly opposes dredging with the use of machinery and Tamil Nadu model of irregular sand price fixation. “The committee abides by the rules and it has decided to expel those members who violate in illegal sand transportation,” he told.

Committee Vice-President Halyar Iqbal, General Secretary Rajarathna Sanil, members Abdul Khader and Nagesh, Advisor B S Chandru were present.
