B V Karanth passionate about 'Bhootharadhane': Sculptor

Speaking after inaugurating ‘B V Karanth Namana-2010 Natakotsava’ being held under the aegis of Rangayana and B V Karanth Trust here, he said both Bhootharadhane and yakshagana programme are having special qualities to attract crowd.

All dramas of Karanth had some uniqueness to captivate the audience. All forms of arts such as acting, singing, art and culture could be seen in Karanth’s plays.

K S Rajendran of National School of Drama(NSD) said ‘Karanth was active person and used to be involved in one or the other works. He was helping and encouraging artists to grow in the field of theatre. His service to the field of theatre was unparalleled.

Rangayana director, Prof Lingadevaru Halemane said there was confusion over holding four-day drama festival in memory of  B V Karanth till last minute due to pronouncement of the Ayodhya verdict. Later, they decided to go ahead with the festival.

On this occasion, an oil painting of Karanth done by B L Mahesh, a student of CAVA, was unveiled.

After the inauguration, the play ‘Mayasita prasanga’ was staged.
