Man detained as his mobile contained images of Kasab, Dawood

He has not been booked as nothing suspicious was found during questioning and he may be given a clean chit, they said.

The 27-year-old hailing from Bihar had misplaced his mobile phone at the Mumbai International airport yesterday, police said.

The man, who was to board Air India flight to Jeddeh in Saudi Arabia, was searching for his mobile but by that time, the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) had already found it, police added.

"CISF found the objectionable photographs in the phone. As the man claimed that it was his mobile, the securitymen asked him why he was carrying these images in his mobile and where he clicked them," a senior police official said.

"Subsequently, he was handed over to the city police. His phone was carrying photographs of terrorists Masood Azhar, Kasab, underworld gangster Dawood, Taj Mahal Hotel in flames during Mumbai terror attacks and others," the official said.

The man, who is a driver by profession, was not much educated and he claimed that he had kept the images in his mobile phone just for curiosity, Deputy Police Commissioner Satyanarayan Choudhary said.

"We have recorded his statement. But so far it appears that the man was not aware of the consequences of carrying such images in the mobile," said another official.
