Court summons Kalladka, others

Principal Civil and JMF Court has issued summons to RSS leader Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, Puttur Havyaka Valaya Bonantaya president Shiva Shankara Bhat and Sri Ramachandrapura Mutt seer Raghaveshwara Swami directing them to appear for hearing in Shyam Prasad Shastry suicide case slated to October 31.

Shastry of Kedila village in Puttur taluk had committed suicide on August 31, 2014, by shooting self.

He was the brother-in-law of a singer who had accused the seer of sexually abusing her. Following Shastry’s death, his wife Lakshmi had filed a complaint accusing Prabhakar Bhat, Shiva Shankara Bhat and the seer of threatening Shastry.

The case initially was investigated by Puttur police and was later transferred to CID. The CID had filed a charge sheet against the seer, Prabhakar Bhat and Shiva Shankara Bhat in connection with the suicide on September 26.

The trio has been charged under Sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of IPC.
