Delay in works: DC warns of criminal case against KRIDL

Deputy Commissioner Sasikanth Senthil warned of initiating a criminal case against the officials of Karnataka Rural Infrastructure Development Limited (KRIDL) for delaying the implementation of tourism-related works in Dakshina Kannada district.

Speaking at a meeting convened to discuss tourism-related projects here on Saturday, the deputy commissioner said several works related to the tourism department were entrusted to the KRDIL.

“However, owing to the negligent attitude of the KRIDL officials, the works are pending for the past several months. The district administration is mulling over filing a case against the delay in completion of works,” said the officer.

Tourism department Director B Ramu said the tourism Department has taken up works worth Rs 1978 lakh in the district, of which, works worth Rs 1414 lakh have been entrusted to KRIDL, Rs 202 lakh to PWD and Rs 361 lakh worth works to other implementing agencies. The department has already released Rs 843 lakh.

He expressed displeasure over the delay in implementing the project, in spite of available funds.

The officials were directed to complete the work on Yatri Nivasa and other basic amenities in religious centres in the district. Further, he said the PWD has prepared an estimate of Rs 125 lakh for the development of Sulthan Bathery road.
