BJP claims that farmer welfare in Karnataka is their No 1 priority

In a series of tweets on Sunday BJP has claimed that the welfare of Karnataka's farmers is their number 1 priority and asked for their support for the upcoming assembly election on May 12th.

The party announced that the welfare of the farmers has been their highlight of the manifesto. “We have tried to address the prevalent farmer distress in Karnataka and ensure that agriculturists in our state prosper!” the party tweeted.

BJP, if it comes to power, promised to announce a crop loan waiver up to Rs 1 lakh including all loans from Nationalised Banks & Co-operatives and Rs 5,000 Cr “Raitha Bandhu Market Intervention Fund” to support farmers during price fluctuation.

Farmers to receive 1.5 times the cost of production as Minimum Support Price and to fulfil Modi’s vision of doubling farmers’ incomes. “Negilayogi Yojane” to provide direct income support of Rs 10,000 each to 20 Lakh small and marginal dry land farmers.

Moreover, BJP tweeted, “We will provide a grant of Rs 2 Lakh to every new Farmer Producer Organisation (FPO) and earmark a 15% quota for FPOs in public procurement of farm produce. We will also facilitate interest-free loans to small and marginal farmers to purchase machinery. “

“To enable the direct sale of produce by farmers, we will construct “Raitha Bandhu Mega-Farmers’ Markets”, with 5 markets in Bengaluru, 2 each in Mangaluru, Mysuru, Kalaburagi and Hubballi-Dharwad and 1 each in all other district headquarters,” it added.

To strengthen the Bhoo Chetana programme BJP claims to award 3-year contract with an incentive to the farmers to switch to organic farming.

For the welfare of landless labours, BJP promises to launch “Mukhya Mantri Raita Suraksha Vime Yojane” to provide an accidental insurance cover of up to Rs 2 lakh, free of cost.

“Sujalam Suphalam Karnataka Yojane” of Rs 1.5 Lakh Crore will complete all irrigation projects in the state by 2023. 100% subsidy to farmers to install solar pump sets will be granted.

“We will Launch ‘Raitha Bandhu APMC Unnatikarana Yojane’ to upgrade & modernise all APMCs Develop Agro-processing Clusters under the “Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojane in Kolar, Belagavi, Vijayapura, Chitradurga and Haveri for suitable fruits & vegetables” promises the party.

“We will allocate Rs 1000 Cr grant to set up “Raitha Bandhu Centres for Agro-Innovation” in all districts to develop world-class technical know how to help modernise agriculture and improve yields Establish a state of the art Floriculture Institute in Hoskote,” said the party twitter handle.

To monitor and assess timely implementation of all farmer friendly schemes executed by the Agriculture, Minor Irrigation and Water Resources ministries, will be set up the “Raitha Bandhu Department”, directly under CMO.

“Raitha Bandhu Scholarship” with a corpus of Rs 100 Cr will enable children of farmers to pursue agriculture & allied sector courses 1,000 farmers to travel to countries like Israel and China every year to study best practices under CM’s Fellowship program.
