Delhi Assembly Elections 2025 | Old party hand, surprise pick: Meet the first-time MLAs

The new Assembly will witness few first-timer winners. Here are the newly elected MLAs who made it to Delhi assembly for the first time.

With a landslide victory in the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, the BJP is set to stage a comeback in national capital after more than 26 years, sweeping away the AAP from Delhi in another big win to extend its saffron footprint in the country.

As per the data from the Election Commission of India, the BJP has won a staggering 48 seats while AAP has bagged 22 and Congress failed to open its account in the 70-member assembly.

The new Assembly will witness also few first-timer winners. Here are the newly elected MLAs who made it to Delhi assembly for the first time:

Harish Khurana

BJP's Harish Khurana, who made his electoral debut from Moti Nagar, defeated AAP's Shivcharan Goel by 7548 votes.

Khurana is the son of senior BJP leader and former Delhi CM Madan Lal Khurana. Harish attended DAV Public School in Sahibabad and graduated from Ramjas College in Delhi University. He was active in politics during his college days as a part of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP).

He is a former convenor of the public relations cell and was also a spokesperson for Delhi BJP. Moti Nagar is a legacy seat for Khurana as his father represented the constituency for two terms in 1993 and 2003. 

Shikha Roy

BJP's Shikha Roy is being touted as giant killer as she defeated Saurabh Bharadwaj from Greater Kailash by 3188 votes.

The 60-year-old was a surprise pick from the BJP as she is just a two-time councilor and was pitted against AAP's senior leader Saurabh Bharadwaj.

Pankaj Kumar Singh

BJP's Pankaj Kumar Singh has won the Vikaspuri seat after defeating his closest rival and AAP candidate Mahinder Yadav.  

In the last Assembly elections, the AAP’s Mahinder Yadav won by a margin of 42,058 votes. However, this time around he the lost the election by 7,727 votes.

Singh had earlier contested Delhi MCD polls and this was the first time he was fighting the assembly polls.

Neelam Pahalwan

BJP candidate Neelam Pahalwan won from the Najafgarh constituency. She defeated AAP's Tarun Kumar by a margin of 29,009 votes.
