Ensure law and order during Bharat Bandh: MHA

The Centre has issued an advisory asking all states to strengthen security and take measures to prevent violence during the Bharat Bandh called by some groups on Tuesday against caste-based reservations in jobs and education.

The advisory also said the state administration should tell district magistrates and superintendents of police that they are personally responsible to ensure law and order.  

"The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued an advisory to all states to take necessary precautionary measures in view of calls on social media for Bharat Bandh on April 10 by some groups," an official statement said.

The advisory comes against the backdrop of violence during Bharat Bandh called by Dalit organisations on April 2.

The states have also been asked to intensify patrolling in all sensitive locations so as to prevent any loss of life or damage to property.
