Chithira Tirunal award for Mohanlal

The award, instituted by the Sree Chithira Tirunal Trust in memory of the erstwhile King of Travancore, carries a cash prize of Rs One Lakh and citation.

Trust chairman T Raveendran Thampi announced the award at a press conference here. The award, instituted in 2006, honours individuals who have made exceptional contributions in the fields of art, science, technology, literature, medicine, education and cinema.

Agricultural scientist M S Swaminathan, ISRO chairman G Madhavan Nair and National Security Advisor M K Narayanan were the earlier recipients of the award.
