Social activist Aruna Roy along with several women activists protested near the residence of Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje on Saturday and demanded a CBI probe in the recent incident of clash between two communities in Dangawas village of Nagaur district of Rajasthan.

The protests continued till late in the evening as the activists were adamant to hold talks with Vasundhara Raje over the issue.

“Four Dalits were killed brutally by the people of higher caste. Their women were manhandled and thrashed. Yet, the state government has taken no effective measures. Local police could have averted the incident but no efforts were made. We demand a CBI probe in the incident, suspension of the local police station staff, inclusion of rape charges in the case and best hospital treatment to the injured people,” said Kavita Srivastav a social activist.

We will not leave this place till we convey our demands to the chief minister, she added.

A Dalit man Ganpat Ram, who was seriously injured in the clash, died on Saturday in a hospital in Ajmer. The total death toll in the incident has reached to five, which includes four Dalits. According to the local police, Ganpat Ram died in the afternoon but his family members have refused to accept his body demanding a CBI probe in the incident. “Family members have refused to accept the body and they are sitting in front of the mortuary,” said a senior police official of Ajmer Range. The case has already been referred to CID for investigation, he added.
