<p>New Delhi: The All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) on Monday staged a protest here against the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, which saw participation of several Opposition parties, with AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owaisi saying Muslims will never forgive NDA constituents TDP, JD(U) and LJP (Ramvilas) if they support the contentious legislation.</p><p>The protest came amid the ongoing Budget Session during which the Bill could be introduced. The Joint Parliamentary Committee tabled its report in Parliament last month. Remember that if you support this Bill at this critical juncture, Muslims will not forgive you ever because it would be passed with your support," Owaisi said.</p><p>Senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid claimed that the Bill is not valid constitutionally and people are not satisfied with it while prominent Shia cleric Kalbe Jawad alleged that the Bill's sole intention is to grab Waqf properties.</p><p>Congress Lok Sabha Deputy Leader Gaurav Gogoi said the suggestions of Opposition MPs in the JPC were not accepted and it showed the government's intention not to resolve any issue. It just wants to create a divide in the society, he alleged.</p><p>Samajwadi Party's Dharmendra Yadav said they were supporting the protest against the Waqf Bill, as it was "against our Muslim brothers". He alleged that by rejecting the suggestions of the Opposition, the government has shown what its intention is. </p><p>Trinamool Congress MP Shatrughan Sinha called it "divisive politics" and said no religion or community should be targeted like this. "They are trying to sideline a community. If they force this bill on the basis of brute majority, there will be protests," he said, demanding an all-party meeting on this issue.</p><p>AIMPLB spokesperson S Q R Ilyas said the board came to the conclusion that the proposed legislation will pave the way for the "usurping" of Waqf properties, which would be a "direct attack" on Muslims.</p><p><em>(With PTI inputs)</em></p>
