<p>The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs on Wednesday approved the construction of a new rail link between Gadag and Wadi.<br /><br /></p>.<p>The CCEA chaired by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh cleared the long pending project which passes through Gadag, Koppal, Raichur and Gulbarga districts, said a statement.<br />The new railway line is expected to provide a direct shorter route for the people of the area and further to Hyderabad and Secunderabad in Andhra Pradesh.<br /><br />The total cost of the 252.5 km length project is Rs 1922.14 crore and both the Karnataka government and the Government of India will share the cost on a 50 per cent each basis. Besides, the Karnataka would provide land free of cost. The project is expected to complete in six years.</p>
