The Delhi government on Wednesday issued a notification for a probe panel to look into corruption in the Delhi & District Cricket Association (DDCA).
The decision to set up the commission was taken by the Assembly on Tuesday after a day-long discussion. Sources said the fate of the panel remains uncertain as the statutory prior approval from Lieutenant Governor Najeeb Jung for the notification was not taken by the AAP government. The timing of the notification indicates Kejriwal government’s resolve to assert itself by not following the accepted constitutional route for the commission’s approval. However, the move coincided with a conciliatory note struck by Kejriwal during the day when he met with Union Home Minister Rajnath Rajnath Singh over other pending legislations.
