First formal meeting on Telangana today

Hosted by Union Home Minister P Chidambaram, the meeting will be attended by representatives of eight recognised political parties of AP besides Chief Minister K Rosaiah.

Each political party has sent two representatives to attend the meeting to be held at North Block, headquarters of the ministry. Each party has leaders belonging to the Telangana and Coastal Andhra-Rayalaseema regions.  Rosaiah, who arrived here on Monday, had a hectic day meeting Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi.
He also called on Chidambaram, Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee, Law Minister and AICC’s AP incharge Veerappa Moily and Defence Minister A K Antony.

The prime minister held a meeting in the evening which was attended by Mukherjee, Chidambaram, Antony and Moily to take stock of the volatile situation in Andhra Pradesh as well as the strategy to be adopted at Tuesday’s meeting.
