<p>Five Rohingyas, who had illegally entered Assam in 2014 were repatriated through India-Myanmar border at Moreh in Manipur on Thursday.<br /><br />Official sources here said the five Myanmar nationals including two women were taken to Moreh from Tezpur in North Assam on Wednesday. They were lodged in a foreigner detention centre inside Tezpur jail in Sonitpur district, after they were found guilty of illegally entering Assam.<br /><br />"They five wished to go back to their home after the expiry of their jail terms. We got in touch with Myanmar officials with the address details provided by the illegal migrants. Myanmar government verified the address details and accordingly they were taken to Moreh border in Manipur on Wednesday. They were handed over to Myanmar officials and security guards at Moreh on Thursday afternoon," said a source.<br /><br />Seven Rohingiyas were similarly deported from Assam in October last year after Supreme Court refused to interfere into a petition to stop their deportation. They were lodged in Silchar jail in South Assam. <br /><br />The five have been identified as Mohammad Ayas, Mohammad Riyas, Ahmed Hussain, Toyaba Khatun and Azida Begum. They are residents of Buthitang area in Myanmar and Rohingyas.<br /><br />There are 15 other Rohingiyas from Myanmar still lodged in different jails in Assam and an official process was underway for their deportation, said the source. According to a recent statement of union home ministry, nearly 40,000 Rohingiyas are living in India at present and are residing mainly in Jammu, Hyderabad, Kanpur and outskirts of Delhi.</p>
