14 booked in Gujarat for posting 'anti-national' content on social media after Operation Sindoor

Ahmedabad: The Gujarat police on Monday said that it has booked 14 people in separate cases for posting "anti-national content" which could "demoralise the morale of the armed forces" on social media.

"In the middle of a tense atmosphere between India and Pakistan following the Operation Sindoor by Indian forces, the Gujarat Police has registered cases against 14 people for posting anti-national, negative posts that could demoralise the morale of the army on social media," the police said.

The state government said in a statement that Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghavi had instructed the police to take action against those who were spreading such posts.

"In view of this, Director General of Police Vikas Sahay ordered to file cases immediately after inspecting the posts which were found to be "anti-national, negative, fake information demoralizing the morale of the army, rumours and those kinds of information which put the security of the army at risk," the statement said.

The Intelligence Branch and Social Media Monitoring Unit of the Gujarat Police were keeping a close watch on such activities. Meanwhile, FIRs have been registered against 14 individuals for posting anti-national, anti-people and anti-military posts.

These FIRs have been filed in Kheda, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Junagadh, Vapi, Banaskantha, Anand, Ahmedabad, Surat, Vadodara, Patan and Godhra.
