115 new HIV positive cases in nine months in Kodagu

District Aids Control Officer Dr Shivakumar has said that 115 new HIV positive cases have been identified in Kodagu district between April and December 2018.

Speaking at a meeting chaired by the Deputy Commissioner (in-charge) K Lakshmipriya, he said that various programmes are being organised to create awareness on HIV AIDS, in association with non-government organisations. The government is providing treatment facilities to the patients, she added.

She suggested that creating awareness through social media and documentaries on a regular basis will help to prevent the deadly disease.

District Health and Family Welfare Officer Dr Rajesh, Women and Child Development Department Deputy Director Radha were present.
