20 foetuses found abandoned in Belgaum

As many as 20 foetuses, mostly female, were found abandoned under a bridge on the Hiranyakeshi river bed at Sankeshwar town in Hukkeri taluk on Sunday.

It is suspected that private clinics and hospitals might have disposed them after conducting sex determination tests.

The foetuses emerged after the water level in the river receded. Though the exact number of the foetuses couldn’t be ascertained due to their condition, locals put the number at 20 and said many more could have been washed away in
the water.
