Three youths from Hassan drown in Tungabhadra river

Raichur: The bodies of three youths from Hassan district, who went missing in Tungabhadra river, near Mantralaya on Saturday, were pulled out on Sunday afternoon.

The police have identified the victims as  Ajit (20), Sachin (20) and Pramod (19) from Javagal of Hassan district. The trio were part of a seven-member group from Hassan which had arrived in Mantralaya on Friday.

After taking darshan of Raghavendra Swamy and Manchalamma, they had ventured into the river hours before their scheduled departure of train for their journey back home. Sachin accidentally slipped into the river. Pramod and Ajit tried to save him, but all three met a watery grave.  

The police, along with a team of expert divers fished out bodies on Sunday afternoon after the inclement weather hit search operations on Saturday.
