» The Belagavi police seized 30 kg of unaccounted silver that was being transported in violation of the model code of conduct from Kolhapur in Maharashtra to Ranebennur in Haveri district at Kognolli checkpost on the Maharashtra-Karantaka boarder in Nippani taluk, late on Tuesday evening, reports DHNS from Belagavi.

The precious metal, in the form of ornaments, was being transported in a car by Rajendra Kumar Jain, a resident of Ranebennur.

He failed to produce the necessary documents following which the consignment was seized.

Nippani police have registered a case.
