Jain College, Center for Graduate Studies, recently organised its first ever national level inter-college fest, ‘Elysian’, at Town Hall. The event also marked the launch of the college name ‘Center for Graduate Studies’, as the new campus was established recently on Vasavi Temple Road, VV Puram.

The fest was a blend of cultural events and commerce and management competitions. The event saw scintillating performances by participants from various colleges including Christ University, Jain University, St Aloysius College (Mangaluru) and many more.

The two-day fest witnessed a carnivalesque atmosphere with performances by several bands from various colleges and also dance performances that enthralled the audience. There were several other competitions for students of commerce and management like ‘The Best Manager’, ‘Just a Minute’ and ‘Business Quiz’. Apart from the competitions, there were film promotions as well.

The director and lead cast of the movie ‘Operation Alamelamma’ were present on the first day of the fest. The next day, there was another film promotion and the first look of the movie ‘Duniya-2’ was launched. Hitha Chandrashekar, the female lead in the movie, interacted with the students.

The second day of the fest exhibited the diverse ethnicity of the college as they celebrated ‘Ethnic Day’. Not only were the Indian students traditionally dressed but also the international students studying at Jain College carried themselves well in their ethnic attire.

Thao Vu Thi, an international student from Vietnam, chose to wear the lovely Indian sari instead of her traditional clothes as she was excited to experiment with the Indian attire.  “Everything is new to me in India. I just love the way film actors wear saris and even I wanted to try it out. I am happy that I got an opportunity to wear it,” she said.

The fashion show added a glamorous touch to the event.
