Actor 'Bullet' Prakash fined Rs 5.35L for road tax evasion

Continuing its drive against traffic and transport violations, the Transport department on Wednesday checked more than 2,000 vehicles and seized 250 vehicles in several areas in the City.

The drive was conducted in Hebbal, Gorguntepalya, Naya­ndahalli, Tin Factory, Kengeri, Majestic, Peenya, Electronic City, Silk Board Junction, Bannerghatta Road, Sumanahalli and surrounding areas.

Actor booked

A car driven by actor ‘Bullet’ Prakash was also checked. It was said he was driving without a number plate. The Toyota Fortuner he was driving was stopped by the RTO officials at Gorguntepalya signal on Tumakuru Road. He was driving the car without registration and the temporary registration had also expired on October 1.

Prakash was told to pay Rs 5,35,000 as road tax and registration fees and the actor agreed to pay it later. Transport officials said the SUV had tinted glasses and when they stopped the vehicle to check, all other violations came to light.

The drive, which was conducted for vehicles with permit violations and other offences, included private vehicles such as goods vehicles, buses, maxi cabs among others.

Private buses, maxi cabs were booked for plying without permits and other violations; cars were booked for non-payment of taxes, using tinted glasses, having defective number plates and not carrying valid documents of emission test and insurance certificates.
