A 19-year-old trainee defence cadet escaped from his army school situated on Mother Theresa Road in Ashok Nagar on November 3.

A complaint was filed in this regard by P S Yadav, company quartermaster havildar (CQMH), who is in charge of the school.

According to the complainant, Naveen Kumar Gurjor got admitted as a cadet to the 492 Platoon, Pro Wing, CMP Centre and School, Bengaluru. He is a native of Faridabad in Haryana and had joined a few days ago. Gurjor was last seen on Saturday night when he went back after the training session, police said.

His absence was noticed around 4 am on Sunday when the alarm to wake up the trainee went off and Yadav realised he was missing. Soon, a red alert was sounded and the staff members searched for Gurjor before confirming that he was indeed missing.

The police suspect that he might have escaped from the school to return to his hometown for the festival. The police have communicated the matter to their counterparts in Haryana and asked them to check if Gurjor had reached home. The city police, at the same time, are looking for him in and around Bengaluru.
