Bengaluru: BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath announced on Monday that the backlog of e-khata applications has been significantly reduced, from 40,000 last week to around 4,500 applications currently.
.
Speaking to the media, Girinath explained that in addition to the 2,000 pending applications, the BBMP receives about 2,000 new applications a day.
.
"We aim to increase our daily disposal rate to 10,000-15,000 applications. We have advised those looking to buy or sell properties to come forward. Once our system is fully streamlined within this week, we will inform citizens that they can submit their applications," he said.
.
The BBMP plans to issue a public notice after December 15 to further guide people through the process. This step is expected to provide relief to citizens who have faced delays in applying for new e-khatas.
.
To address the backlog, the BBMP has created 800 new logins and appointed an additional Assistant Revenue Officer (ARO) for each ward. "We have also allowed anyone holding a position equivalent to that of an ARO to assist, as the job primarily involves document verification," Girinath added.
.
He also emphasised that the public can now use the newly launched helpline (9480683695) to report any grievances related to e-khata services, including complaints of harassment from officers.
.
"If a single officer has a higher workload, we will redistribute the applications to other officers on the backend to ensure timely processing," he noted.
