The BBMP also plans to allow private service providers to assist in this process.</p><p>The primary hurdle in final khata issuance is its dependency on approval from Assistant Revenue Officers (AROs), after which it can be downloaded from the website.</p>.<p><strong>Implementation & challenges</strong></p><p>The BBMP has partnered with private agencies in each of its eight zones to print draft khatas.</p><p>When delivered, the draft khata will include a cover letter from Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar, explaining the importance of the e-khata, along with a colour envelope.</p><p>In October 2024, the BBMP made e-khata mandatory for property registrations, mortgages, and other transactions, digitising records previously maintained in manual registers at all 64 assistant revenue offices. This move aims to eliminate the need for in-person visits to the BBMP revenue offices for khata-related services.</p><p>Since its rollout, the BBMP has issued approximately 1.4 lakh final e-khatas.</p><p>However, delays in ARO approvals have frustrated property owners, especially those needing urgent access. Some citizens have also alleged that bribes were demanded to expedite processing.</p><p>For assistance, the BBMP has launched a citizen helpline at 9480683695 for all e-khata-related inquiries.</p>
