The BWSSB call centre received more than 150 calls on Friday morning, most of them complaining about overflowing manholes, sanitation blocks and choked drains. Most of the calls were from residents of Pillanna Garden, Machalibetta, New Thippasandra and surrounding areas, where sewage flooded the roads.

BWSSB officials said that in spite of undertaking desilting work, manholes tend to overflow during heavy rains since there is no proper segregation of rain and sewage flow in the City.
BWSSB received complaints from residents of Vasanthapura where sewage had entered houses and had to be pumped out using a machine. Complaints of houses being flooded also came from residents in the low-lying areas of Indiranagar, Domlur and Ulsoor.

Incidentally, BWSSB's compound wall at High Grounds station also collapsed due to the rain. BWSSB staff will be available for all sanitary complaints through its call centre on 22238888.
