Cheated in investment scam, student dies by suicide in Bengaluru

Bengaluru: A 19-year-old college student allegedly died by suicide at her home in Rajajinagar, North Bengaluru, police officials said on Monday. 

The deceased Priyanka B, as per the FIR, was cheated by her college mate of Rs 15 lakh worth of gold ornaments in the guise of investments. The Priyanka was found hanging from the balcony of her house on November 29, the police said. 

She left behind a note blaming Diganth, her college mate who convinced her to put money in casinos. Diganth then took the gold ornaments, but didn’t return them despite Priyanka's repeated requests, the FIR noted. 

The Rajajinagar police have registered a case under BNS Section 108 (abetment of suicide) and launched a probe.
