<p>Bengaluru: Even as Cyclone Fengal <a href="https://www.deccanherald.com/india/tamil-nadu/cyclonic-storm-fengal-begins-making-landfall-imd-3298529">made landfall in Tamil Nadu</a> on Saturday, its effects were felt in Bengaluru as the city shivered leading its residents to grab jackets and blankets from the storage.</p><p>The city saw an overcast weather with cloud cover on Saturday, which the IMD scientists say will remain for the next two days. On Saturday, the city reported 22.6 degrees Celsius of maximum temperature — a -4.8 degree departure from normal — and 20.3 degrees of minimum temperature, a 3.1 degree departure from normal.</p>.Cyclone Fengal: Chennai airport shutdown till 4 am on Sunday due to adverse weather condition.<p>The minimum temperature for the next two days will likely be around 20 to 21 degrees Celsius, while the maximum temperature won’t be more than 25 degrees Celsius and is likely to decline — signalling colder nights.</p><p>According to the IMD, the minimum temperature denotes the coldest part of the day, while the maximum temperature indicates the hottest part.</p><p>“This is the effect of Cyclone Fengal,” said Dr N Puviarasan, Scientist ‘F’ and head, of India Meteorological Department (IMD), Bengaluru. “Since there is complete cloud cover, the maximum temperature won’t rise and is likely to be 24 - 25 degrees Celsius. This is expected to be there for two more days,” he told <em>DH</em>. </p><p>According to the IMD, light to moderate rains were likely in isolated areas in the city till December 5.</p><p>“Once the weather is overcast, whenever there is a cyclone, the maximum temperature will reduce,” Puviarasan added.</p><p><strong>Winter after December 15: IMD</strong></p><p>According to Puviarasan, the winter is expected to begin in Bengaluru and south interior Karnataka after December 15.</p><p>“Since the north-east winds are continuing, the effects of winter will most likely be felt after December 15. Because of the cyclone, we are now getting northeasterly wind from the bayside,” the scientist said.</p><p>“Once the winds are completely stopped, only then we can announce the arrival of winter. However, in the north interior Karnataka (NIK) cold air will flow much early from the northerly direction,” he added.</p>
