Gangs robbing bus passengers at Majestic held

The Upparpet police have arrested two gangs who were targeting passengers waiting for BMTC and KSRTC buses at Kempegowda bus station and robbing them. They were also involved in house thefts.

The arrested are Venkatesh (39), Lakshmi (30), Manukaumar (29), Bhagyamma (50), Manja (24) and Amjad (30). There were also three cases of pick pocketing registered against the other gang members- Syed Ismail (32) and Suresh (49). With the arrest of these members the police have solved 28 cases of robbery including two house thefts. They recovered 1.255 kg gold worth Rs 37.65 lakh and also Rs 3 lakh in cash.

According to the police they were selling the stolen jewelries in Kolar and Chinthamani and all would share the money. The gang first came to the city for work but later involved themselves in stealing. The accused have also committed crimes in Mandya and other districts.
