Helmetless HC clerk loses control over bike, dies

A High Court clerk, who was riding helmetless, was killed on the spot when he lost control over his motorcycle on a speed-breaker in Kurubarahalli on Sunday afternoon.

Around 2.30 pm, Shashidhar (35), a resident of Palace Guttahalli, reached Kurubarahalli from Rajajinagar. He failed to notice a speed-breaker, lost control over the bike and hit the ground. He was riding helmetless and suffered severe head injuries.

Passersby informed the police, who shifted him to a nearby hospital where he was declared brought dead.

The body has been sent for post-mortem and the police are yet to ascertain if he was riding under the influence of alcohol. Eyewitnesses said Shashidhar was overspeeding and lost control when he went over the speed-breaker. The Vijayanagar traffic police have registered a case.

Pedestrian mowed down
In another incident, a 40-year-old pedestrian was mowed down by a private bus near Seshadri Road in Upparpet on Saturday night.

According to the police, the deceased, Raju (40), was a native of Visakhapatnam. Around 11.30 pm, Raju was crossing the road, when a speeding bus, attached to National Travels, rammed into him. Passersby rushed him to the hospital and informed the police. Raju told the police his name and native before he succumbed to injuries.

The bus driver, Amul Raj, has been arrested and the vehicle has been seized. Raju’s body has been shifted to Victoria Hospital and the police are trying to trace his family.
