The 52.036 yen ($47.414 billion) loan pledged by Japan to Namma Metro has come as a big boost to the project to connect the city with the airport. However, final approval from the Centre is still pending.
"The loan can be drawn only after a formal approval from the government of India is received for the project," a BMRCL official said.
Though the airport metro line was sanctioned in the union budget, it is yet to receive the formal approval. To a question, BMRCL Managing Director Ajay Seth said: "We are on track to get the approval. It may happen next month (April)."
