Now, despite the heavy competition brewing in every nook and corner, this little ice-cream joint, that has been in the City for more than 30 years, still manages to draw crowds for its variety of ice-creams and softees.

With no other branch, this ice-cream joint is more than satisfied with the love and appreciation given to them by their customers.

Whipping up fresh softees all day, ‘American Softee Corner’, does not have many varieties of softees to choose from.

“Ever since the place started, we have been serving only three flavours
of softees — vanilla, chocolate and butter-scotch,” says Faruq, who has been working at the joint for 10 years.

 Nevertheless, customers are not complaining since they feel it more than makes up with its taste.

“Having come here for the past six years, I love the softees and find them very fresh, light. It’s priced at Rs 12 and therefore very affordable,” says Pavan, a professional.

And unlike the traditional chocolate, Faruq says that the hot favourite of the crowd is the vanilla softee. “People in Bangalore love their ice-creams and what ever the season is, the product sells.

The fact that this place has survived for so long is proof enough that quality matters more than quantity,” he explains. The place also boasts of an array of ice-creams and sundaes. Be it the hot chocolate fudge, banana split, the regular scoops of black current, strawberry, coffee, butterscotch and many other varieties.

A must try is the ‘Spanish Delight’,  which is a unique combination of three flavours, namely cashew, vanilla and bournvita, and Faruq says that it is one of the fast moving sundaes of the store.

And if one is not a fan of ice-creams, then the joint also offers fresh fruit juices.

While mosambi and lime are always available on the menu, other fruit juices largely depend on the fruits of that season.

Open on all days, between 10.30 am to 11.30 pm, the place is a must visit for all those who have a soft corner for ice-creams.
