Karnataka Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh inspects infrastructure projects in Mahadevapura

Bengaluru: Chief Secretary Shalini Rajneesh on Wednesday inspected several long-delayed infrastructure projects in Mahadevapura, executed by the Karnataka Road Development Corporation Ltd (KRDCL).

As part of the inspection, she visited areas, including Seegehalli, Kadugodi, Varthur, Gunjur, and Dommasandra, accompanied by officials and local residents.

On learning that most of the projects — such as the railway overbridge at Kadugodi, the elevated road at Varthur, and the grate separator at Dommasandra — were stalled due to land acquisition issues, the chief secretary directed officials to resolve the hurdles by addressing the compensation-related problems.

Urban expert RK Mishra, who accompanied the chief secretary, expressed optimism that the projects — considered critical to decongesting the city’s IT hub — would soon resume.

“Some of these projects have been stuck for two years. The KRDCL officials showed no intent to complete the works, even though the delay was causing major hardship to commuters. We are truly happy with the inspection,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Varthur Nagarika Hita Rakshana Vedike submitted a petition to the chief secretary, requesting the construction of two metro lines — one extending the Whitefield line from Kadugodi to Hoskote Road (6 km), and another connecting the Sarjapur metro at Dommasandra to Hopefarm via Gunjur and Varthur (13 km).

BBMP Chief Commissioner Tushar Girinath also took part in the inspection.
