Suspecting infidelity, a man strangled his wife before surrendering himself to the police in Laggere near Rajagopalanagar, North Bengaluru, on Thursday night.
The victim, Soumya (29), was the wife of Jagadish (46).
The couple hailed from Mysuru and had come to Bengaluru a year ago. Their five-year-old son lives in Mysuru with his grandmother, the police said.
Jagadish suspected that Soumya was having an affair with one of her friends and would quarrel with her over the issue. On Thursday night, Jagadish picked a quarrel with Soumya for spending long hours talking and texting on phone.
A heated argument ensued after which he hit her face, and as she fell down, he stamped on her neck strangling her, the police said.
He then went to the police station and surrendered himself. The police shifted the victim to a hospital where she was declared brought dead.
Jagadish was produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody.
