Vehicular movement was affected in and around the Chalukya Circle on Tuesday afternoon as a large number of people rushed to pay their tributes to Srikantadatta Narasimharaja Wadiyar who died at Vikram Hospital in Vasanth Nagar.

As vehicles poured in from all directions, it led to traffic snarls on Basaveshwar Road, Cunningham Road, Miller’s Road, Palace Road and Bellary Road.

“More vehicles and men were seen on the roads when the news of Wadiyar’s death spread,” said ACP (Traffic Central) Syed Nizamuddin. Additional forces were deployed and police manually operated traffic signals and diverted vehicles to other roads, he added.

Slow movement was also felt at Cauvery Junction, JC Road and other areas. There was slow movement of vehicles from 4 pm and the situation was normal by  8 pm.
