Rediscovering an age-old science

Bangalore-based yoga exponent, Dr S N Omkar, is one those who has
dedicated his life to the understanding and teaching of yoga. His passion and
commitment to the art and science yoga is evident not only from a number of
illustrated books he has published on various aspects of yoga, but the regular
classes he has been conducting in Bangalore for over 25 years.

 Omkar is uniquely placed to propagate this art. A scientist by training and profession, Omkar brings his knowledge of modern science to the teaching of yoga.

As a culmination of his long practical experience and research in the field, Omkar is bringing out two books and four DVDs on some of the most sought-after aspects of yoga: A book and a DVD on Yoga for ‘A Pain-free Back; a book and a DVD on Yoga in Pregnancy; and two more DVDs on Yoga for Women’s Health and Surya Namaskara.
The release of the books and DVDs will be held on June 14 at JSS Auditorium, 8th block, Jayanagar, at 6.30 pm. Cine artistes Vishnuvardhan and Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, who are Omkar’s disciples, will grace the occasion along with chief guests, theatre personality Master Hirannayya, Director of Doordarshan Kendra, Mahesh Joshi and former i
nternational players of repute, Prakash Padukone, Vimal Kumar and Ashwini Nachappa, who have benefited from Omkar’s guidance and teaching of yoga.

 Omkar conducts regular classes for anyone interested in learning yoga. His classes on Surya Namaskara, general classes and special classes for women on yoga, meditation, pranayama and therapy classes are conducted at Yoga Mandir, 1357, 27th Cross, 25th
Main, Banashankari II Stage.
