Seminar to mark poet Adiga’s 100th birthday

Literature lovers are marking the 100th birth anniversary of Kannada poet Gopalakrishna Adiga with a national seminar on March 12 and 13.

Karnataka Sahitya Academy, Jain Deemed-to-be University and Gopalakrishna Adiga Shathamana Prathishthana have jointly organised the event at Jain College, J C Road, Bengaluru.

"The seminar will throw light on Adiga's poetry, writings and personality," says Jayaram Adiga, one of the organisers. The sessions start at 10 am and go on till 5 pm.

Mogeri Gopalakrishna Adiga (1918–1992) is one of the most influential modernist Kannada poets. He served as professor of English literature, and published several books of poetry and two novels. He was honoured with several awards, and presided over the Kannada Sahitya Sammelana held at Dharmasthala in 1979.
