Three storm water drains (SWD) had breached leading the sewage water to seep into the houses near Bannerghatta Road in Dollars Colony. The house of former BBMP commissioner Siddaiah was also not deprived of this menace.

After the heavy rainfall on Monday midnight, the breach in the storm water drain had led to the overflow of the sewage water causing waterlogging in this posh colony.

Narayan N, a local resident, said, " The encroachment of Vaishnavi Apartment on the SWD has led to this menace. About 20-30 houses in the street have been affected. It is a risk to people's health."

Narayan also charged that none of the BBMP officials responded to the issue despite several complaints. However, Prakash, SWD, Dollars Colony, BBMP, said that they had constructed the SWD on the next day itself. "We have built the SWD on the very next day of the rain. But it is true that the apartment has encroached the SWD. We are working towards clearing some space," said Prakash.

Meanwhile, Siddaiah said, "This was Ningayanna Kere lake bed area. As we have built houses above this lake bed, it is natural for water to seep in. But the capacity of the SWD has to be increased to prevent the overflow or the breach in the SWD."
